Well done completing the cicadas do maths activity! Your timeline is so interesting, you are going to have a busy and fun life!

A hairdresser and a firefighter sound like awesome jobs! It sounds like you enjoy working with other people and helping them which is a very special quality to have.

Perhaps now you can write a description of your timeline, and explain what you have learnt from doing this activity.

    Keep up the great work.

    Ngā mihi,
    Lauren

  2. Kia ora Amelia, how fabulous that you have made such a thoughtful timeline from 17 to 85! It's great that you have such active future plans and that you are already keen on a career in hairdressing. Hairdressers play such an important role in the community as we all found out during the COVID lockdowns! I missed getting my hair done SO much! Is anyone in your family a hairdresser? I am interested to know what inspired you to want to become a hairdresser.
I also really like that you want to give back to the community by becoming a volunteer firefighter! What a great cause to support - you are truly inspiring Amelia! Good on you that you plan to do this part time to look after your family and your dog. Do you know what type of dog you prefer? I have two cats and they are such great company!
Thank you for sharing and keep up the awesome work! Nga mihi, Naomi (Manaiakalani Facilitator)

    2. Hi Amelia, yes I can see how it would be very helpful for your mum and two brothers if you were able to give them a personal hair service - especially when they have long hair as you say! I would love it if I had a hairdresser in my family. Border Collies also have long hair so perhaps your family and your Great Nana wouldn't mind if you used your hairdressing skills to give Milo and Nan's dog(s) a groom every now and then :) I really love Border Collies too as they are so clever, especially on a farm when they help to herd animals like sheep and cows. Does Milo do anything really clever?

Thank you for sharing the when I am 17 timeline you have created. It’s great to see that you have been thinking about the future and what you might be doing at different stages of your life. I see that you plan to be a hairdresser and a firefighter - what interesting career choices! I like the way you have thought about more than one career. What interests you about these ones?

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more great mahi from you during the summer learning journey.
